From Bestselling Author Kristen James Seasoned covert operative Jeff Ivanov knows something is stirring in paradise. His never ending antics and perchance for romance got him a two year leave, aka paid vacation, to his childhood home of Kauai. The Garden Island, however, is a hotbed of nationalities with hidden national agendas. Even while enjoying the island Aloha life, he can’t miss the gorgeous Russian ladies flirting with scientists and engineers from Kauai Missile Base. When his old team members start to show up, the party’s on. Of course their mission isn’t condoned or even recorded. The Na Pali Seven do not exist. As the son of a US Naval Captain and a Russian born professor, his role is to use his Russian connection to block the Russians from getting too close to the enamored scientists. The assignment gets real easy when Anya saunters into the bar and into his sights. They play the game together but emotions are dangerously real. The Na Pali Seven could be responsible for stopping the largest and most devastating attack on US soil and Ivanov might be falling for the enemy. ************* Sneak Peaks I hit the ground hard enough to knock the wind out of me, which hasn’t happened in a good while. I freed my hands to fight her off, but she had a weapon ready. The knife hit my throat instantly. She’d maneuvered on top of me before I could react and had gotten the upper hand, completely surprising me. Everything stopped. Holding my hands out in surrender, I felt the blade on my throat and heard my own raspy breathing as I lay there completely helpless, trying to pull in a gulp of air. It might be my dying breath. She may have smiled right then. But she didn’t kill me instantly, providing me with a tiny light of hope. I could possibly get my hands to the knife to fight her off before she cut deep enough to bleed me out. Then again, I might have a better chance of talking my way out. **************** Now that I was walking away from the lights and activity by myself, the guards hurried to catch up to me, seeing their opportunity. Suddenly I wondered if Brinks really was a good shot. I listened to their footsteps following me and stopped, set my glass on the ledge, and turned just enough to flash the shaka at them. I barely heard the shots. Both men slumped to the floor. I hurried to them, grabbed an ear piece from one, and pushed both bodies overboard. I straightened, picked up my glass, and pretended to be looking out to sea in case anyone had a reason to walk my way. When I placed one of the guard’s ear pieces in my free ear, I immediately heard a foreign language. Farsi. I didn’t understand it, but maybe I’d be able to pick up on something if they switched to English or Russian. To Brinks, I said, “Excellent shot, Brinks, for an old Marine Corp sniper. Next time, a little closer to the temple . . . but then again that’s good for a Marine. I’ll have some of the Navy Seals teach you later.” I smiled and held up my glass in a mock solute. The glass exploded.
Kauai Spy Games Kristen James Books
This is the second book I have read featuring Jeff Ivanov in a fast-paced military-action scenario. This one is deeper than "The Recovery of Agen M" in terms of character development, with slightly less emphasis on action, and more on relationships. It has several believable, engaging characters that relate to each other in a clean and upbeat way, but are also realistic and earthy - they are human and sexy, but their higher selves are featured. I love that about her books! I would enjoy seeing a little more complexity, but then they probably wouldn't be the same kind of book or fill the same kind of need. Though short, this one was a good length for me in which to get lost without needing a lot of concentration, or to suspend reality too much. I like her writing a lot; it is clean, entertaining, and romantic with safe, traditional values that make me happy.Product details

Kauai Spy Games Kristen James Books Reviews
The best word to describe this book is FANTASTIC!!! A thriller beyond thrillers! The minute I began this book, I could not set it down.
A great friend of mine recommended I read this book.....I very much appreciate that.
I recommend buying this book for yourself and ALL of your friends! A wonderful holiday read!!!
"Makes we want to go to Kauai tomorrow! I enjoyed the book very much. Ivanov's part with the silent helicopter was alittle out there, but a great part of the story. I liked Anya and the attractive girls much better. Are they really the bad guys/gals? Sounded like Anya was part of the solution at the end. It was very interesting that they worked together."
The book opens with a wild fight scene and offers many more. I don't want to spoil any surprises, and there are many. This scene intros some questionable people but soon we find out Ivanov is suspicious about another set too. He knows he is onto something when special ops people show up. Soon he has a full team of specialists from all sectors of defense. The book is about protecting the missile base from espionage that could lead to terror attacks but it's also about the friendships within this subculture and even between different cultures. If you enjoy James Bond, you'll love how you go inside Ivanov's head and see how he feels about Anya (Red) and how he has to sacrifice his feelings. Their contact, Master Sergeant Johnson, is hard core and true to life. The team members that come together have worked with each other in one way or another through the years so there's lots of back story, joking and intertwined relationships that add another layer to the plot. The ending is very satisfying - key plot points are wrapped up but many things are left open. It's not "oh, isn't the world perfect once again" but a real ending. I see another book coming and look forward to it."
I found this book for my kindle right before leaving on my trip to Kauai. I read through the story on the way down and enjoyed it. Great action scenes and there were enough twists and turns to keep me engaged. On our trip we visited Plantation Gardens, the glass beach and even went on a zodiac boat tour and saw the Na Pali coast. I'll definitely re-read this now that I've seen the island.
Amateurish, ridiculous dialogue , unbelievable plot, dumb characters. Total waste of time, even if free. Seemed as if this was an attempt to mimic other author's successful books in this genre.
The book never grabbed my interest. The characters seemed to be thin cardboard with no depth. I usually finish every book I start. As a published author I respect the work, energy, and creativity that goes into writing and authorship. This one of the few books I never finished. Save your time and money by not getting this book.
Predictable spy adventure with the good guys going to bed with the beautiful Russian women. I was a bit taken back by the repetition in the first part of the book where the author told us something and some pages later, repeated it, like she thought we forgot it by then!
The characters were developed OK but I felt parts of the story seemed rushed and others were too pat. There was action but not much suspense (which in a well-done action/adventure/mystery adds to all of these).
